My fellow Americans,What we witnessed is a heartbreaking, terrible tragedy — the violent, senseless loss of a bright, patriotic young leader, Charlie Kirk. Charlie loved our country. He loved his family. He stood up for children, for families, and for the future of America. He was always willing to debate, to argue, to fight for what he believed in, and he inspired millions. This is a man who dedicated his life to making America stronger and freer — and now he has been taken from us in the most cowardly way imaginable.No words can describe the sorrow we feel for his wife and children, who were there, watching as this unspeakable act was carried out in plain sight. Our hearts break for them. Every American who loves freedom, who cherishes the safety of our streets and the sanctity of our families, must stand with them and pray for them. We will do everything in our power to comfort them and to pursue justice.To those who would cheer chaos — whether from the press or from political opponents — shame on you. In times like this we should be coming together, not ripping each other apart. There is no place in our country for the celebration of violence or for disrespect at a moment of mourning. We saw those who attempted a moment of silence and were met with disgraceful noise. That is not who we are. We are, and must always be, better than that.I have directed the full resources of the federal government — our law enforcement and intelligence agencies — to work with state and local partners to find every person responsible and bring them to justice. There will be answers. There will be consequences. We will spare no effort to ensure that those who committed this atrocity are held fully accountable under the law.To the millions of Americans who support the movement Charlie helped lead: do not be intimidated. He taught you to stand strong, to love your country, and to fight peacefully and powerfully for what is right. Honor his memory the best way we know how — by continuing the fight for a brighter future, by protecting our children, and by defending the freedoms that make America exceptional.Finally, let us pray for Charlie’s family. Let us pray for our nation. In the face of evil we must respond with resolve, unity, and an unwavering commitment to justice. We will mourn, we will remember, and we will carry on the work he began.
